Austin is a really great town to live in - there is no disputing that. Every town has drawbacks whether it be crime, racial tension, traffic, dirty air or water. Austin has few of any of the preceding - traffic can be a bit too much but not much to mention if you live in Central Austin.
But there is one thing that comes around every year - that no one will tell you about.....Cedar Fever. Forget Saturday Night fever, it's Cedar Fever - every December ! Not everyone suffers the flu like symptoms as the pollen of cedar trees clouds the sky. But most do and it's nasty. Austin has topped a jillion lists from most books sold to most restaurants per capita and you can add Allergy Capital to the list.
It's not all doom and gloom - it has actually caused me to be a lot more 'health conscious' . I've even put myself under the needle a few times(Accupuncture) which has had some really terrific side effects. Like - peace of mind, relaxation in the body, and more restful sleep to name a few. So there's a silver lining in every cloud but beware - Austin has a lot of allergies. For some, there's a price to pay for living deep in the heart of God's nature. I'll take it and my peace of mind over living in a big city any day p> Technorati Profile
