Community Name: Cherry Creek located in South Austin, just behind Westgate shopping and movie theater, which is at the intersection of Hwy 290 and Lamar Blvd. This area is very conveniently located with easy access to Mopac, I35, 290, and Brodie Lane.
Community Description and Highlights: Known for its large oak trees and great location, Cherry Creek is a popular neighborhood for young families, couples, singles, and retirees. Prices range from the 150's for homes with around 1300 sq ft and requiring some remodeling, up to the $280's for homes with close to 3000 sq ft and many upgrades throughout. Most homes in the area have nice medium-sized back yards, and the trees are lined with lovely trees. Cherry Creek retains some of the original laid back Austin vibe so common in Travis Heights and other communities North of 290 but South of the river, but with much more affordable home prices.
Here are some attractions to this area that make it very desireable:
Central Market--A fine gourmet and health food grocery store with fabulous fresh organic fruit, coffee bar, cheese bar, olive bar, amazing fresh seafood, large selection of wines and a tasty cafe. This market makes living in Cherry Creek similar to living in central Austin with its gourmet and health conscious flavor. http://www.centralmarket.com/cm/cmLocation.jsp
Yoga Yoga--located in the same shopping center as Central Market, this yoga studio, one of three others in the Austin area, is known for its variety of classes and schedules. http://yogayoga.com/
Also in the vicinity are Borders Books, Amy's Ice Creams, a great movie theater, Red Robin American Food, Ross, La Madeiline, Pet's Mart, Old Navy, a huge new Academy Sports store, Home Depot, and Lowes among many others.
Karst Preserve is a local area of caves that are environmentally sensitive. Residents in this area are very protective of their caves. They can be found at La Cresada and Davis Lane just west of Mopac. http://www.bseacd.org/western_oaks.htm
Dick Nichols Park is one that we love. It is very clean, great for young kids, lots of picnic tables, and it even has a fun dolphin water feature for the kids to play in during warmer months. http://www.austinexplorer.com/Hiking/HikeDetails.aspx?HikeID=13
