Here is a list of the green developments either already complete or coming soon to Austin and the surrounding areas:
Green Builders, Inc. is building a master-planned community in Georgetown with homes ranging from 1800-2400 square feet and priced at $200,000 to $500,000. The homes are officially designated 'green' because of their foam insulation in the walls and roof; centrally located heating, plumbing, and air conditioning; and recycled lumber and local natural stones. These homes will be complete in the next 6-8 years.
Green Builders also plans to build three other environmentally friendly subdivisions:
Rutherford West in Driftwood will have homes ranging from the $300,000's to the $600,000's. Each 1.5 acre lot will be sold separately.
Elm Grove in Buda will take 2-3 years to build and will have homes priced from the $200's to $300's.
New Sweden in Pflugerville will take 6 or more years to complete and will have a community garden cared for by residents, a catfish pond, and organic farming.

Agave is an environmentally conscious community located 6 miles east of downtown Austin on MLK that not only has broken ground already, but you lots are still available for building. It is a very hip and trendy new modern home community, conveniently located, and with a lifestyle all its own. Check out these sites and tidbits I found about it:
